A lot of people who plan to go to college would like to finish it as quick as possible. They do not have time or money to take four years and are looking for the best way to finish fast so they can start working full time. This is not true for everyone of course as some people have parents footing the entire bill with no rush to graduate.

But for those who are watching every penny or who are paying for your own education the sooner you graduate the sooner you can start earning money with a new job. How do you go about graduating from college quicker? One option is to complete CLEP exams accepted by colleges as credit. CLEP stands for College-Level Examination Program® and gives people an opportunity to receive college credit from material already understood or known by the person if they successfully complete one of several different exams.

This means you can test out some classes quicker by passing the exam. The more of these you do, the less courses you have to pay for (save you money) and the quicker you can graduate (do not need to spend a semester in each class).

Now each university is different and may or may not accept CLEP tests as credit for a college course. Therefore you should check to make sure your college accepts CLEP and then see which courses you may be able to test out of and not need to complete.

It may be assumed that someone who is going to take a CLEP test already has a good or decent understanding of the material the test will cover. That does not mean however that person should sit for the test without preparing. It would be very wise to prepare. Interesting Facts About Gorillas

I have often been very drawn to the Gorilla, as they are astounding creatures which have many similar characteristics to humans. Gorillas are large, tender, shy apes that have their homes in the continent of Africa. Gorillas have been made to look like nasty animals by the film industry in the past but are in fact quiet, shy, peaceful vegetarians. These beautifully clever animals are at risk to extinction because of the massive destruction of their home grounds.

Gorillas that have been put in cages have displayed a huge deal of wisdom learning sign language from people and have been able to create straightforward sentences and communicate with individuals. Only Gorillas in captivity that have been taught have displayed any skill with implements this doesn’t mean to say they haven’t used them in the wild just that they haven’t been observed.

As I mentionaed earlier, Gorillas are mainly quiet animals but they communicate with each other using many complex noises and gestures. This is normally to teach the young the many skills required to live and to talk to other gorillas about social relationships, food, warning etc. Gorillas are mainly herbivores, though occasionally they will consume termites and ants. The moisture they receive from the vegetation they consume is sufficient to infrequently need a drink of water, which isn’t that surprising if you think that a normal male gorilla eats about 50 pounds of food a day.

The work to preserve gorilla habitats has been carried out by many people over the years but because of the many gorilla safaris the need for protection for these magnificent animals is a lot more critical. Many of these safari businesses limit visits in the parks to make sure the gorillas aren’t disturbed too frequently. Maintaining this balance has allowed these safari businesses to provide Wildlife Safaris while ensuring viability of the gorillas habitat.

At earlier stages of their development Gorillas would have lived in the trees but they have evolved into living on the ground mainly living at the forests boundary and near clearings within the rainforests. The average age of a wild gorilla is around 35 years, but gorillas that are put into captivity have been seen to live till around 50.

By around ten or twelve years of age gorillas are able to mate, the pregnancy lasts around 8 to 9.5 months for the female gorilla and she will have around 3 babies in her lifetime. The newly born baby is normally half the weight of a human child. Watching a Gorilla mother bringing up her young is very much like that of a human mother with much care and affection. Young gorillas once weaned create there own beds close to there mothers and will eventually leave their side at about 3 to 4 years old.

Reclaiming Unfair Bank Charges has been in the news a lot of late and there are a lot of people are reported to be being very successful with their claims. But are you entitled to claim? Do you need a solicitor?

If your claim isn’t going to be complicated then there’s probably no need to get a solicitor involved when you are reclaiming bank charges. At the very worst, most of the claim can be dealt with through the small claims courts and probably from your own home if the banks play ball.

But if your claim is complex or you know you just won’t bother reclaiming yourself without help, then the cost is possibly worth it. But look for a no-win no-fee solicitor and check what their charges will be.

A penalty clause is not permitted in British Law. This means that charges incurred for going overdrawn etc must be directly propotional to what it has cost the bank to deal with the situation. So if it costs £2.50 to send a computer generated letter, then the charges must not exceed £2.50.

Yet when customers go overdrawn in the past, banks have automatically sent customers a standard letter telling them they are overdrawn whilst imposing charges from £20 upwards. This is usually in addition to the interest charges imposed for unauthorised overdrafts or being overdrawn.

There are other unlawful bank charges and these are being successfully challenged by customers with banks refunding these unlawful charges. These unfair charges include:

At some point, you’re going to want to either replace or add to your photography equipment. One of the main reasons people procrastinate is because of the daunting process they imagine in order to get the “right stuff” at the “best price.”

For example, most people don’t roll out of bed one day and think: Yep, today’s a good day to get a new camera. Instead, the reason is often wanting to do something that is beyond the capabilities of their current gear.

At this point, it helps to know which camera features do what. For that, you might want to examine a list of camera features before getting new photo gear.

After deciding what specific gear you want to buy, the next question is: “What’s the secret to finding the best deals at bargain prices?” There’s three parts to that answer:

Buy Online, Not Retail

Buy from online merchants who you trust. Who is that, you wonder? Well, if you want to investigate it yourself, I would suggest going to PriceGrabber’s Merchant Rating Service and read the experiences others have had with the merchant.

Be alert for certain merchant warning signs that may indicate it’s time to look for a different merchant. Two possible red flags are a pushy sales representative; and having great prices on the main item, but have it bundled with accessories that are over-priced.

Brand-wise, there are many excellent cameras on the market. But, if you don’t want to spend a month deciding on a brand, go with either Canon or Nikon.

Super Foods – What’s The Truth? The Simple Answer.

What are “super foods”…and why should I care? You might as well ask a similar question: “What is clean air…and is it really important”? The answers to both questions are the same.

Most often referred to as “quality of life”; and if by taking a few simple steps you could dramatically improve that quality, wouldn’t it be kind of silly to ignore those very steps?

If you live in an area that frequently announces the daily “air quality index” and frequently advises “staying indoors—in a ‘hepa filtered environment’” your options there may already be limited. You can uproot your family and “head for the hills” or a more rural environment; or, you can accept the prospect of ongoing respiratory problems.

If breathing is not your problem, but diet is, the answers there may be a simple as a trip to the farmer’s market. (With Google’s help, of course) Do a quick search for “super foods”.

Do several searches as I did, and you will eventually end up with the “basic lists of 14″ plus the one that includes CHOCOLATE–dark chocolate, but chocolate none-the-less.

Recent dietary research recommends 14 different, nutrient-dense foods, that very strongly promote good overall health. Coined “superfoods,” they tend to be lower in calories, higher in levels of vitamins and minerals, and to contain many disease-fighting antioxidants.

A diet built primarily, though not necessarily exclusively, around these super foods virtually guarantees a rapid improvement in your quality of life…improved digestion, higher energy levels, lowered blood pressure, the list goes on; but you get the idea.

Understanding How Private Mortgage Insurance Works In A Conventional House Mortgage

Most first-time home buyers opt for conventional mortgage financing. More than half of all borrowers are able to make a down payment of at least 20 percent, but for those of us who can’t – there’s private mortgage insurance (PMI).

For any conventional mortgage with a down payment of less than 20 percent, you’re going to have to pay for PMI.

The cost of private mortgage insurance ranges from approximately .4 percent to about 1.5 percent of the loan balance, but this will depend on the term length of the mortgage and the size of down payment you do make.

Because private mortgage insurance protects the lender from a default by you, the borrower, the higher your down payment, the lower that risk.

Here’s a breakdown of average private mortgage insurance rates based on the size of the down payment and the term of the fixed, conventional mortgage:

5% Down Payment
30-Year Fixed Mortgage: .78%
15-Year Fixed Mortgage: .72%
1-Year ARM (Adjustable Rate Mortgage): .92%

10% Down Payment
30-Year Fixed Mortgage: .52%
15-Year Fixed Mortgage: .46%
1-Year ARM (Adjustable Rate Mortgage): .65%

5% Down Payment
30-Year Fixed Mortgage: .32%
15-Year Fixed Mortgage: .26%
1-Year ARM (Adjustable Rate Mortgage): .37%

You can see that the private mortgage insurance payment goes down when you increase your down payment. The payment is also reduced when the length of the mortgage shortens from 30 years to 15 years.

The normal option, used by the majority of home buyers, is to simply pay your PMI on a monthly basis with it bundled into your monthly mortgage payments. At closing, usually two months worth of interest is kept in escrow by the bank.

A less common way is to pay for PMI as a single-premium cost. On loans with a down payment of at least 10 percent, buyers can pay the entire private mortgage insurance premium up front or finance it back into the loan, resulting in a tax deduction for you.

A final option is called “lender paid mortgage insurance.” The lender pays the premiums and in turn, increases your interest rate. So, while your interest rate would be higher, you wouldn’t have monthly PMI payments and your larger interest payments would be tax deductible.

Whichever of the above options you select has its benefits and disadvantages. You should weigh them all carefully to make a comfortable decision before going to settlement on a home.

Electronic Photo Frames – Selection Criteria

Digital picture frames have seen a marked reduction in price over the last couple of years. In fact it is now possible to find these starting at more or less the same price as traditional static photo frames.

So it’s no surprise that digital photo frames are increasing in popularity, especially when you consider the increased functionality on offer when compared with a traditional static frame. For example, digital frames can flick through a slide show of your favourite photos, quite possibly with special effects transitions. Some of the more expensive frames even have the capability to show brief video clips, including sound.

As with any other product, there are a range of functions which will affect not only on the price but also how suitable you feel any particular frame is for you. Some of the more obvious features that you might want to consider when selecting your digital frame might include:

SIZE
As with pc monitors and TVs, the size is measured diagonally from corner to corner. Seven inches is currently the most popular size but larger frames are available. In general, the larger the frame, the higher the price will be.

RESOLUTION
Again this is similar to computer monitors – resolution is measured in pixels. A digital photo frame which is specified as having a resolution of 750 X 500 will have a width of 750 pixels and a height of 500 pixels.

CONTROLS
Simple, easy to use controls are best. Many frames will have these hidden at the back – but the front and sides are usually easier to access and more convenient for the user.

MEMORY
Many digital photo frames have their own on-board memory for storing photos. Without this, you’ll need to use a memory card or USB stick in the frame.

Normally the frames can accept a variety of memory input methods – USB, SD, XD etc. Make sure that your chosen frame is compatible with the type of card used by your camera before you buy.

DISPLAY OPTIONS
Some frames have changeable surrounds, which make it easier to blend in with your decor – be it at home or at the office.

Some frames will even rotate the picture if you rotate the frame – effectively giving you the option of showing your photos in “landscape” or “portrait” orientations.

Most frames on offer today have the option of producing a slide show, often with a choice of transitions between pictures. Some frames might have an MP3 input which would allow you to add background music to your slideshows should you wish.

How Solar Energy is Created

Solar energy consists of the light and heat emitted by the sun, in the form of electromagnetic radiation.

With today’s technology, we are able to capture this radiation and turn it into usable forms of solar energy – such as heating or electricity.

Although one could go into technical dissertations on the subject of electromagnetic radiation, how it is converted into solar energy, and the exact qualities of its electromagnetic rays, this is not something the average person needs or wants to know.

But in order to benefit the most from the use of solar power, there are a few facts you should know. Knowing these facts can assist you to make a sound decisions, when looking at the use of solar power as a clean energy source for your home, RV, or whatever the case may be.

Available Solar Resource

The technical feasibility and economical viability of using solar energy depends on the amount of available sunlight (solar radiation) in the area where you intend to place solar heaters or solar panels.

This is sometimes referred to as the available solar resource.

Every part of Earth is provided with sunlight during at least one part of the year. (I say “part of the year” as the north and south polar caps are each in total darkness for a few months of the year.) The amount of sunlight available is one factor to take into account when considering using solar energy.

There are, however, a few other factors which need to be looked at when determining the viability of solar energy in any given location. These are as follows:

* Geographic location
* Time of day
* Season
* Local landscape
* Local weather

Because the Earth is round, the sun hits its surface at different angles, at different locations on the globe. This ranges from 0º (just above the horizon – a good example of this is the north pole during the winter) to 90º (directly overhead, at and near the equator).

When the sun’s rays are vertical (directly overhead), the Earth’s surface gets a maximum of solar energy. The more slanted the sun’s rays are, the longer they have to travel through Earth’s atmosphere before reaching the surface (becoming more scattered and diffuse as they go along).

The more scattered and diffuse the sun rays are, the less concentrated the solar energy is. Because of the fact that the Earth is round, the polar regions never get direct sunlight, and, during their respective winter months, they receive no sun at all.

The Earth travels around the sun, in an elliptical orbit. Because of its elliptical path, the northern hemisphere of the Earth is closer to the sun during one half of the year, and the southern hemisphere is closer during the other half of the year.

When one part of the Earth is closer to the sun, it receives more concentrated solar energy. This is the time of year that is referred to as “summer.”

But regardless of summer or winter, the 23.5º tilt of the Earth’s axis plays a larger role in determining the amount of sunlight striking Earth at a particular location. The tilting of the earth results in longer days in the northern hemisphere during one half the year, and longer days in the southern hemisphere during the other half of the year.

Areas such as the United States and Europe receive more solar energy between May and September – not only because days are longer, but also because the sun is almost directly overhead during this season. The sun’s rays are far more slanted during the shorter days of the winter months. Cities such as Denver, Colorado, receive nearly three times more solar energy in June than they do in December.

Diffuse and Direct Sunlight

As sunlight passes through Earth’s atmosphere, some of it is absorbed, scattered, and reflected.

The following is a general list of materials that cause the sunlight to be diffused:

* Air Molecules
* Water vapor
* Clouds
* Dust
* Pollutants

Sunlight affected in this way is referred to as diffuse solar radiation or diffuse sunlight.

Sunlight that reaches the Earth’s surface without being diffused is called direct beam solar radiation or direct sunlight.

The sum total of all diffuse and direct solar radiation in a given location is called global solar radiation. It is the total amount of sunlight hitting the Earth at any specific spot, both direct and diffuse combined.

Pollution and other atmospheric conditions (such as weather patterns) can reduce direct sunlight by 10% on clear dry days. They can reduce direct beam radiation by 100% on thick, cloudy days.

Note that the absence of direct sunlight does not imply total darkness, as some diffuse light will still get through.

Measuring Sunlight and Solar Energy

Scientists measure the amount of sunlight available in specific locations during the different times of year.

They are then able to estimate the amount of sunlight which falls on similar regions at the same latitude with similar climates and conditions.

Measurements of solar energy are normally expressed as “total radiation on a horizontal surface”, or as “total amount of radiation on a surface tracking the sun”.

In this last case, the assumption is that one is using a solar panel that automatically tracks the sun.

In other words, the solar panel would be mounted on a tracking device so that the panel would remain at right angles to the sun throughout the day.

This system is primarily used for industrial setups, when it is used at all.

Solar Energy Measurements

Radiation data (the amount of solar energy available at a given location) for solar electric (photovoltaic) systems is often represented as kilowatt-hours per square meter (kWh/m2). Direct estimates of solar energy may be expressed as watts per square meter (W/m2).

Radiation data for solar water heating and space heating systems is usually represented in British thermal units per square foot (Btu/ft2).

Fitness basically refers to the state of being healthy. Hence, it will really be great if people will spend more time on fitness throughout their lives.
