Two Wrongs Make A Silence

It seems that the old adage that two wrongs do not make a right has been dealt a serious blow by a new technology that is taking the headphone industry by storm.
Noise cancelling headphones have long been in use by the military but have only recently made their long awaited debut into the consumer market. The technology is simple enough to understand although it can be surprising just how effective the technology really is. Noise cancelling technology is based on the fact that any sound can be effectively cancelled or deleted by producing a noise that has sound waves that are perfectly inverted to the initial sound. Aside from completely undermining the saying that two wrongs don’t make a right, this principle delivers an astounding degree of peace and quiet for the wearer.
Noise cancelling technology is perfectly poised to take advantage of a whole host of situations where people are exposed to ambient noise for long periods of time. Air travel is certainly one of the most promising areas of the market, with business travelers and frequent flyers expected to lap up noise cancelling headphones in order to get some solace from the hissing and droning of aircraft. http://www.cancellingnoise.com predicts that bus car and rail travel will also be possibilities for noise cancelling technology but perhaps to a lesser extent.
At present, Bose is dominating the marketplace with Sony in hot pursuit. There is no debate that current prices for the new devices is somewhat high, with Bose noise cancelling headphone fetching upwards of two hundred and fifty dollars in retail stores according to http://www.cancellingnoise.com Bose are obviously looking to secure the high end of the market and as more competitors enter this promising new market, a price war is sure to develop.
But for now, those of you who are willing to pay can enjoy the sweet sound of silence for a couple of hundred dollars and six hours into that twelve hour flight, there are sure to be some regrets for those who opt to save their pennies and not purchase noise cancelling headphones.

Buying A Golden Retriever Puppy: Top Pet Care Tips

We all know that Golden Retrievers are beautiful, obedient, and make wonderful family pets and hunting dogs. Golden’s also make great guide dogs for the blind, narcotic detection dogs, and even tracking dogs for finding missing people. Although there are many other dog breeds out there, Golden Retrievers remain one of the most versatile and most astonishing breeds that you can get.
Before you rush out and purchase a Golden Retriever puppy, you should first take the time to find out a bit more about the breed. You can attend dog shows, meet with various owners of Golden Retrievers, and even go to your local kennel club. Most people who own Golden Retrievers are extremely proud of them and will be more than happy to share their enthusiasm with you.
When you buy you’re Golden Retriever puppy, it’s always a great idea to buy from a backyard breeder or local puppy mill. Backyard breeders are normally the best way to get a Golden puppy, as they know and care a lot about the breed in general. Although you can always go to a reputable breeder, backyard breeders aren’t just in it for the money - they actually care about their dogs and want you to get the best Golden possible.
You could also visit the Golden Retriever Club of America and their local member clubs, as they can provide you with a list of breeders in your area. If these breeders don’t have any Golden’s for sale themselves, they will be more than willing to help you find what you’re looking for. This way, you can get a Golden from a very reliable source.
Whatever you do, you should never rush into purchasing a Golden Retriever. You should always take your time, and have a little bit of patience. When you buy your puppy, you want a healthy puppy who will grow up to be a fine testament of the breed. By taking your time and making a careful decision, you can save yourself a lot of time and money later on down the road.
Golden puppies that are poor quality, are normally produced by breeders who just want to have a litter or breeders who are just looking for the profits and care very little about giving thoughts to looks, quality, or temperament. If you buy a puppy from either of these breeders, you’ll more than likely end up with a puppy who has poor health, poor temperaments, and even disqualifications in breed.
When you get your puppy, you should always think long term. Only buy from a quality breeder, and you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. Always remember that you aren’t just purchasing a Golden Retriever puppy - you are buying a companion and a friend for life.
And, of course you will need to house train your puppy. Learn more:

We intend to show you in this article how meditation can help alleviate pain - in fact you could even get rid of pain by using certain yoga techniques. The techniques that you learn are not at all difficult and you can get through them very quickly as they don’t take too much time. Though it is an age old practice, it is very much in use today as well and people from all over the world swear by it. What meditation does - never mind if it is used for spiritual, religious or just relaxation purposes - is to make the mind calm by focusing on a certain object.
Natural Methods to get to Sleep
Different techniques are available and may be performed with chants, meditation music or in absolute silence. The focus could be on some object close by or you could focus on the breaths that you take as they go in and out of your body. You need to find a place where you won’t be interrupted when you do this so never mind what technique you use, the place you are in is important. Choose the place, choose the chant or object you want to focus on and then find a comfortable position - not lying down which could have you falling asleep in that relaxed state. The ultimate aim is to reach a state of a mild trance, a state where you are aware of your surroundings yet detached from it. This is just the first state and it is what most people achieve however, there are states that can be even calmer and more relaxing.
Most religions including Christian mystical tradition, Judaism, Sufism and Buddhism consider meditation as one of the important aspects of spiritual practice - more so Buddhism of course. In the Buddhist context, the practice indicates the directing and controlling of the mind inwards, within oneself in the search for enlightenment. Although it can be performed in any position including standing, sitting, walking or lying down, the sitting position or ‘zazen’, is the most recommended.
Meditation has a number of physical and psychological advantages which was researched by Professor Herbert Benson from Harvard Medical School. Studies have demonstrated that as little as 20 minutes a day aids in the reduction of blood pressure, muscular tension, heart and breathing rates and in lowering metabolism. The deeper states will very often bring about mental images like bursts of color and images and maybe even a still, small voice. It has been proved by follow-on studies that meditation also relieves stress, headaches, anxiety, fatigue, migraine, chronic pain and insomnia. With better awareness comes a better state of health and you will find that your functioning - whether physical, mental, emotional or psychological - is so much more enhanced and healthy. Meditation has been used for some means of spiritual growth however, more recently, it has become a very valuable tool for finding a place of relaxation, peace and tranquility within this fast-paced and demanding world and managing stress. When you combine yoga and meditation, you will find it a perfect recipe to help you to a life without stress and tension.
Tips On Stopping Smoking

The more popular[/spim] nicotine replacement patches and gums are likely to make the problem worse by supporting the cravings at a low dosage that does not relieve the withdrawal craving. Coupled with this the fact that the smoker continues to spend money, with nothing to show for it in terms of combating nicotine dependency.
More conspicuous, the heavy marketing of such stop smoking products has a similar, unconscious, conditioning effect to the promotion of smoking itself - and you don’t want to be hooked on quit smoking gum forever. At best this leaves the smoker bewildered.
Anti Depressants
Anti-depressant drugs are known to help withdrawal. Brupopion (Zyban as it’s also know as) is the most effective, and success rates of up to 30 per cent are not unheard of both as a stand-alone product and also in association with nicotine patches plus guidance or counseling.
It has been reported that there have been disturbing side effects and it is a quite pricey drug, usually prescribed for a period of some months. The same unaccounted variables as with NRT may apply.
Smokers often have other motivation to stop when they undergo an expensive smoking cessation process such as this, and the effect of this cannot be monitored in the published results. As motivation is cited universally as the biggest factor in quit smoking, the results of drug-based stop smoking hypnosis are not reliable. Specifically they do not address the habitual behavior and psychological factors involved.
Few studies measure effectiveness beyond 18 months in any case, so this is not a measure of permanent withdrawal, with which we are concerned in this article.
Many researchers make similar qualifications. For example, Schneider et al. highlighted that simply providing nicotine replacement gum or patches actually resulted in a reduced withdrawal rate with active gum than with placebo treatment (8% nicotine gum, 13% placebo gum).
In fairness, the product inserts for all transdermal stop smoking products indicate that it should be used as part of a stop smoking program. Of course most patients simply buy and apply the nicotine patches like sticking plaster. Without any behavioral help, we can therefore expect very low quit rates with NRT patches.
Drugs are addictive just like cigarettes, of course, and continuing attempts of giving up smoking mean repeat sales and more profit. The fact that these profits fund major research programs helps to explain why the truth about the relative effectiveness of stop smoking remedies does not reach the average smoker.
Solar Energy System With Free Sun Energy For Lower Electric Power Bills

Solar technology converts sunlight into electricity or mechanical power. Sun energy can heat your home, power your calculator and even fuel your car. Solar energy is a renewable energy source that is produced by the sun’s rays. This energy can be tapped indirectly as wind, biomass and hydroelectric power and directly as solar energy (thermal and photovoltaic). In this article, we’ll show you how to tap into solar power generation to reduce your electricity costs and save the environment.
Some classifications of solar technology are active, passive, direct and indirect. Active solar energy system use electrical and mechanical components such as tracking mechanisms, pumps and fans to process sunlight into usable outputs such as heating, lighting or electricity.
solar technology
Passive solar systems use non-mechanical techniques of controlling, converting and distributing sunlight into usable outputs. Direct solar generally refers to technologies or effects that involve a single conversion of sunlight which results in a usable form of energy. Indirect solar generally refers to technologies or effects that involves multiple transformations of sunlight which result in a usable form of energy.
Solar technology has impacted a number of common practical products. Residential solar products have proven themselves to be quite reliable. A thermal mass is a body that absorbs and holds heat. In the context of solar energy, it is a mass designed to store heat during sunny periods and release heat when sunlight levels are reduced or unavailable.
solar water
A properly sized thermal mass will smooth out temperature swings and help keep rooms at a comfortable temperature throughout the day and night. Many homes use a solar water heater instead of oil or gas to heat water. The solar powered car is expected to be the next great advance in solar technology.
The greatest benefit of solar power technology is that it produces no emissions. Solar powered products have become so small and commonplace that consumers are using solar power without even realizing it. Some calculators are powered by a small solar cell instead of a battery.
Soon, everyone will use renewable energy sources to power their homes and businesses. Researchers believe that by the year 2030, most people will be using alternative energy sources to supply the power they need to heat their houses, drive their car or just watch television.
solar power systems
Solar power will allow our children to have energy once nonrenewable resources have been exhausted. We have the technology to ensure a never ending supply of power, but governments must make solar thermal technology affordable to the masses.
Only then will we see the widespread use of sun energy and reap the benefits of being environmentally conscious.
Noise Cancelling Headphones…if You’re Not Into Punk Rock

Here’s an interesting fact: people who listen to music in their headphones too loudly can suffer from permanent hearing loss. Well, that’s not that interesting and many people would agree with that statement. Here’s why it’s an interesting fact: The reason people listen to music too loudly is not necessarily because they love loud music. Rather, it’s because the background sound is too loud and interferes with the music.
So what’s the solution? Music should be enjoyed through headphones (remember, not everyone shares your musical tastes!)…that’s a given. But music doesn’t have to be enjoyed at a massive volume. After all, the true enjoyment of music does not come from the volume but from the quality of the sound.
And how do you get sound quality? One of the ways is to reduce the outside sound you hear. This is done through noise cancelling headphones.
What are noise canceling headphones? The most common type is the kind that goes over your ear and completely encloses it in a shell. There’s soft padding around the sides so it conforms to your head. This type of shape is called circumaural, although you need to know that not all circumaural’s are noise cancelling headphones.
Aside from that shape, noise canceling headphones have another piece of technology that allows them to actually eliminate the background sounds: they use special circuitry, padding insulation, and other technology inside the shell of the part that goes over your ear. This special circuitry works to kill noises from the outside as the sound waves are directed toward you.
The result? Put them on and the world goes quiet. That will allow you to listen to great music at a lower volume and enjoy it more, while keeping others from having to listen to your unique musical tastes.
Because of the insulation and circuitry required to deaden background sounds, the head phones will naturally be bigger in size than the small earbuds you use in your ears. So they may not always be appropriate for travel. If you’re cycling or riding on the bus, you need to hear the background sounds for safety or to know when your stop is. However, if you’re traveling by plane or you want to have a quiet night in a hotel that seems too loud, the noise canceling headphones are just the thing you’ll need for absolute privacy.
If these types of cans are too expensive, you may want to consider circumaural headphones that are not noise cancelling. They’ll still dampen the noise. Or, if you find that they are too big and bulky, you may want to bypass earbuds and instead purchase canalbuds. Earbuds fit right at the end of your ear canal while canalbuds actually go into your ear. They do a better job of deadening external sounds. These are often referred to as noise isolating or passive types of head phones.
Listen to great sounding music! If you are simply too tired or do not have adequate time to do anything in the evenings, then your daily routine is out of balance and you need to make adjustments.
Your work may be too difficult or unsuitable, or you may not be making full use of your hours during your day or evening. A good balance of your time is needed for work, goals, recreation, and relaxation. Take a close look at your daily routine, examine your findings and come up with a plan. Be prepared to follow your plan and with this, you can become better organized.

House clutter Organized house tips Declutter your home tips
Being busy will keep your mind off worry because you will not be thinking of two different things at one time. You can make good use of your time away from work to increase your knowledge of things and life, to work at a hobby or project, and then to relax and be content. This is good balance and when you are better balanced you are better organized.
Perhaps you are a single parent and in a bit of a time crunch each day. Make a point to sit and relax each day and plan. If you are careful you should be able to find just a few hours each day to apply yourself to being better organized.
Most of us use only a small amount of our true capabilities and we can all do so much more. You can learn new things. This will give you new purpose in life and a feeling of achievement. Read non-fiction books to increase your knowledge of everyday things in life and to learn new skills or to improve on existing ones. All of this will help you to be better organized.
The more organized you are the more time you will have for yourself. As you become better organized, take on a new after hours project. Start with something small and work your way up to devoting more and more time to your project. Perhaps you can take on a new woodworking project, for example. Once you complete it, you will feel good about yourself and how you are spending your new, organized time.
With a place for everything and everything in its place, you are freed up in body and mind to take on new endeavors.
If you are under a lot of stress, a more passive and relaxing undertaking might be just what you need, at least to start with. For just one day a week, or a few hours on certain days, set aside time for your own unique enjoyment. When you do this, staying organized will not feel as much of a chore. You will naturally wish to remain organized so that you will have more time for yourself.
Take a walk in the park, listen to favorite music, read an interesting novel, leisurely work in the yard, or watch a bit of TV, these are all of the perks in time from being organized.

Girona is situated in the north-east of Catalonia, one of Spain’s autonomous communities, and covers an area of 6,000 square kilometers. The area is bordered by the provinces of Barcelona and Lleida, as well as by France. Thanks to the region’s privileged geographical situation, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean sea, Girona is a long-established cultural crossroad which also possesses highly active trade and tourist industries. Many of Spain’s first campsites were established in Girona, which pioneered the development of the nation’s camping industry.
THE INTERIOR AND THE PYRENEES
The province is rich in areas of great natural beauty with spectacular landscapes. The district of the Pyrenees offers countless attractions: high mountains, rivers and torrents and incomparable greenery.
During the winter months, Girona’s snow-covered mountains provide spectacular views. The whole area of the Pyrenees is equipped with excellent skiing and winter sports facilities, with ski resorts such as La Molina, La Masella, Vallter 2000 and Núria where you will find a lot of Girona apartments (or apartamentos en Girona, as they would say)and hotels (hoteles Girona) to enjoy the mountains.
There are also places of grate interest for tourists in Girona and its surrounding area, such as the volcanic region of Olot, medieval towns such as Besalú, the Romanesque monasteries of Ripoll and Sant Joan de les Abadesses and the lake of Banyoles.
COSTA BRAVA
Costa Brava’s nice coves and beaches
One of Girona’s main tourist attractions is the Costa Brava; comprised of 158 kilometers of coastline which has innumerable fantastic beaches and cove and is lapped by the warm blue sea. Furthermore, there is an abundance of beautiful Girona accommodation to be had in this area (or alojamiento Girona as they would say there).
Girona has everything; ancient ruins in Banyoles, remnants of old Greek and Roman towns in Empúries, as well as Romanesque art, medieval buildings and a large Gothic cathedral in the city centre. In addition, Girona also has its own cuisine culture with top quality seafood dishes, prime beef and tasty rice dishes.
The Costa Brava night keeps its Mediterranean magic; full of feeling, which almost forces you to go out and breathe its exciting atmosphere. You will satisfy your every need with leisure and night activities by listening to the habaneras or dancing to the beat of music in the open air, having a drink at any of the pubs and terraces, or simply strolling along its promenades.
So, don’t hesitate to visit this region as you will experience enjoyment you could never have had imagined. Have a nice trip!
The Unseen Dangers In Your Drinking Water
Posted on July 28, 2008
Filed Under Healthy Living | Leave a Comment
Though most would hardly think there are health risks found in their water, according to Ralph Nader, it is only one of 2,100 toxic chemicals found in most city water that can cause cancer. Yet most water systems only test for about 75 of these contaminants. This article will focus on one of them, chlorine.
What happens if you put a goldfish into a tank of city water that is the ideal temperature for the fish? Answer- it dies. Why? Because of the chlorine in the water. Here is another question: if chlorine will kill fish, can it be healthy for people? Yet, in most cities of the U.S., the maximum chlorine level allowed in public water systems if greater than that recommended for swimming!
Let’s not give chlorine a bad rap. It is an excellent disinfectant, ridding water of bacteria such as dysentery, typhoid, and cholera. The problem is that chlorine damages the human body by producing THMs (trihalomethanes). These are cancer causing and damage cells. Chlorine also can score the internal walls of arteries, making it easier for cholesterol to attach itself. Mississippi River drinking water has been shown to contain 63 cancer causing substances made by chlorine’s reaction to pollutants in the water such as methanol and carbon disulphide. An increase in the cases of bladder, urinary tract, and kidney cancers have been reported following the infusion of extra chlorine to treat a city water system contamination.
Drinking contaminated water is only one way chlorine enters the body. Even taking a shower can put a person at risk. The warm water causes the chlorine to evaporate, and the steam in the shower might contain as much as 20 times more chlorine than the tap water! This chloroform is a cause of bronchitis, asthma, and certain types of cancer. The open pores in the skin take in even more chlorine and cause skin irritations such as eczema. The inexpensive purchase of a Berkey Shower Filter could solve this.
Parents reading this will be understandably alarmed. They know that a child’s body is much more influenced by chemical changes than their own. And, wanting the best for them, the parents realize they can’t just ignore this problem.
So how can people be sure of giving themselves and their family safe water? A popular option is to purchase bottled water. The problem with this is that, unless you know the source, it could be an unwarranted trust. The fact is, there are no federal regulations concerning bottled water. A company may promise fresh spring water on the label, but pour tap water inside. Yes, to do so is not breaking the law, and it is being done today. So, obviously, pouring money into bottled water is not the answer.
To be sure your water is safe, it is best to filter it yourself. This can be done at a minimum of cost. Start with something to filter your drinking and cooking water such as the Berkey Filter. Be sure the company promises their product will remove chlorine. Such promises are regulated by federal laws. Don’t think of it as an expense, but an investment in the peace of mind that you are giving your family good, healthy water. After all, units such as the Big Berkey have been filtering people’s water since Queen Elizabeth’s time so thousands of people can’t be wrong.
