Lanzarote – The Lifestyle Choice

Lanzarote property remains a popular choice with anyone planning to build a new life in the sun. As the island boasts a whole range of attractions that remain unaffected by recessions or economic downturns. And which maintains a healthy level of demand for property for sale in Lanzarote – whatever is happening in the money markets or the wider economy.

An incredible year round climate, intense natural beauty and idyllic outdoor lifestyle makes Lanzarote one of the leading choices for anyone planning to relocate abroad. And as recession starts to bite in the UK and living standards are eroded by price rises on every front this option becomes an even more attractive proposition.

Lanzarote already has a sizeable ex-pat community – with British residents accounting for around 6% of the overall island population – a figure that is in fact probably much higher in reality – as many long term residents don’t bother to register themselves officially.

Most are drawn by the islands clement year round climate – with temperatures that rarely fall below 70f and with rainfall so low that months often pass by without a drop of precipitation. A welcome change for anyone escaping the comparatively damp climes of the UK or Ireland.

As a result island residents are able to enjoy a whole raft of outdoor pursuits all year round. Encompassing everything from gardening through to paragliding – all set against a backdrop of quite intense natural beauty.

Lanzarote is often thought to be an arid island dominated by black sand beaches. But these misconceptions fall way short of the mark. As there are over 90 great beaches to choose from – the vast majority made up of golden grains. And a contrasting range of vistas – that take in verdant, palm packed valleys as well as the unique volcanic scenery of the south.

As a result, the islands popularity with holiday makers remains undented – foreign visitor numbers have in fact risen by nearly 11% during the first two months of 2008 – versus January and February 2007. Which is great news for the many investors who own holiday rental property on the island. And the islands property market remains buoyant – with close to 180 estate agents busy servicing demand.

Many new residents on the island have taken retirement here. Whilst there has also been an influx of couples and families in their 40´s – who have chosen to exchange life in the UK for a lifestyle in Lanzarote.
